How to make this craft step-by-step:
Materials
To make a butterfly, you will need:
- 1 polystyrene ball Ø 5 cm
- 3 polystyrene balls Ø 3 cm
- a wooden stick
- acrylic paint and a brush
- matched color chenille stems (30 cm)
- 2 googly eyes Ø 1.8 cm
- gel adhesive dots
- a pair of scissors
- a white marker
Step 1
Step that can be done by an adult.
To form the body of the butterfly, insert 3 polystyrene balls Ø 3 cm and one ball Ø 5 cm onto a wooden skewer.
Step 2
Paint the body of the butterfly with acrylic paint and let it dry for about 30 minutes.
Step 3
Place caterpillars in the second polystyrene ball (Ø 3 cm) to create the butterfly wings.
To create the "inside" of the wings, use caterpillars that you have previously shortened.
Step 4
Create the second part of the wings using the same technique.
Step 5
Cut two small pieces of chenille and stick them onto the large polystyrene ball to create the butterfly's antennas.
You can also curl the ends for a nice finish.
