Fall for these adorable pom-pom bats, a colorful Halloween craft activity that is soft and very fun to do with children. Using a pom-pom tool, yarn, black paper, and large googly eyes, kids create little funny creatures to hang around the house.
Why we love this activity?
• Easy to make, perfect for children as soon as they can handle yarn.
• An incredibly cute result, perfect for a Halloween decoration that isn't too scary.
• A sensory activity, the soft yarn is very appealing to little hands.
Always create more original decorations and vary your bat wings with our Halloween patterned papers.
How to make this craft step-by-step:
Materials
To make a bat you will need:
- colored wool
- tools to make the pom-poms
- a pair of scissors
- a sturdy black card (A4 size - 300 g/m²)
- 2 googly eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- strong white glue
Step 1
Choose the pom pom tool based on the desired size for your bat (here we have chosen the tool to make a pom pom of Ø 7 cm), then wrap the yarn around it.
Step 2
Cut the wool all around by passing the scissors blade between the two plastic parts of the pom-pom maker tool.
Step 4
Cut a piece of yarn about 30 cm long, pass it between the two plastic parts, then tie a double knot to keep the pompom in shape.
Then tie a knot with the two ends of the cord to be able to hang your bat afterwards.
Step 5
Detach the two parts of the pompom-making tool.
Step 6
Cut out 2 wings and 2 ears from a sturdy black card.
Tip : Print the wing template by clicking on "Printable template" below the main photo at the top of the page.
Step 7
Apply white glue to the tip of the wing on both sides.
Step 8
Insert the wing into the pompom, then press on each side so that the wool adheres well to the glue.
Step 9
Use the same technique to glue the second wing as well as the 2 ears.
Step 10
To finish your bat, stick on 2 large moving eyes with a diameter of 2.5 cm.
